Spartak Yordanov is an artist, based in Bulgaria, born in 1979  in Sofia.
He graduates  painting at the National Academy of Arts, Sofia (BA in 2002 and MA in 2004 ).
His work includes painting, animation and video art. He is also a musician ( in the bands  Osil Amuk and Cats Under Cars ) .
In his pieces he uses various tehniques and materials ( photographic paper, air-brush, acrylic,oil-colour, phosphorus, PVC  and metal surfaces), combining established methods of depiction with contemporary concepts.He often integrates as frames in his video works photographed stages of the creation of a painting.

His first solo exhibition is in 2005 at Green Cat Gallery in Sofia. It presents a  series of paintings and a video, called “She”, each painting being a frame in the video piece, thus stressing on the transformation of  the still image into motion picture.

In 2009 and 2010 he is involved in the creation of hand-drawn animation, video and music, which correlates with his experiments with painting in terms of motion.
The ongoing project “Macrostation“was formed in 2011 in collaboration with Ralitza Toneva (scenographer) and Ventzislav Dikov (musician) as an audio-visual performance, based on the live interaction of sound experiment and vision, derived from the act of painting.
In 2012 Spartak Yordanov participates in the collective exhibition “On the Move” at Seasons Gallery, Sofia with the series “Still Frame” that explore the transition between digital and realistic image.
At the present moment he is using the technique of painting under camera to create a short film.
